As the members of my parents’ generation pass with increasing speed into that good night, and my generation finds itself in the vanguard, I find myself thinking of the stories I might have collected, preserved - appreciated - and yet allowed to pass unremarked. I find myself regretting the diminished role of elders in my life and in our society in general. I find myself thinking of the legacy I will leave behind me in my turn. In this project I am collecting the portraits and stories of the senior members of the Fannin County community - the elders I find around me today. Elders more precious than diamonds and rubies.
