Born Into Sisterhood

These pieces grew out of my COVID quarantine bubble with two of my dearest friends.  We expanded our social distancing circle to meet on Friday mornings to share music, tea, and art.  The background in these pieces provides many references and clues to these treasured visits.  Most of the prominent papers are ones gifted to me by these friends at one of our gatherings.  Another was acquired on one of my last carefree outings with another member of my sisterhood, one whose high-risk health condition has prevented me seeing her since the pandemic began.  These women are the wind beneath my work.  The color orange is associated with inspiration.  The circles, crosshatched patterns, and loosely woven fabric emphasize connection.  The nails are a symbol of our endurance.  We sisters everywhere are as tough as nails, and we sing despite all adversity.
